The fact that climate change is real and happening, cannot be more emphasized. For quite some time now, its effects are continuously being more and more evident. What used to be thought of as something that would only affect a certain portion of the world, is now affecting the entire globe. Quite interestingly, even the regions considered to be the least contributors to climate change are now beginning to feel the heat, quite literally. The impacts of climate change are quite adverse, and it all goes down to one thing; precipitation, either lack, or plenty of it.
The National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization(CSIRO) have provided two main models that can be used to shed some light on the future impacts of climate change. The planet will quite inevitably, experience an increase in average temperature. This would result in increased evaporation of water, which in turn causes increased precipitation. The two models indicate an increase in the precipitation by two and ten percent respectively.
The increase in the amount of precipitation in different parts of the globe by 2050 is bound to have a direct impact on crop security. There might be more precipitation, but the water requirement by the crops would also be high due to the fact that they need more water. The spo...
