Dear Mr. Scaringe,
Rivian is an upcoming leader in the manufacturing of electric vehicles aimed at preserving and protecting the natural environment. Its success, however, is highly dependent on its human resources. This letter intends to introduce you, the senior management, to a proposal that will equip Rivian with a strategic human resource (HR) plan to support its mission and goals.
Proposed Strategy
Specifically, the letter proposes the implementation of HR analytics to ensure that Rivian's HR processes are connected to its expected organizational outcomes and return on investment (ROI). Rivian's desired outcomes include increased global competitiveness and the ability to be a highly inclusive organization. Also, its objective is to develop solutions that will change how consumers and other companies operate in relation to preserving the environment (Rivian, n.d.). To achieve this objective and the expected outcomes, Rivian must ensure that these outcomes are tied to its HR processes. Reddy and Lakshmikeerthi (2017) reveal that connecting HR processes with organizational outcomes ensure that the organization takes action with a sense of urgency to achieve the perceived results. This can be achieved through the implementation of HR analytics.
This cover letter highlights some of the benefits of HR analytics that will create a solution for Rivian to gain insight from HR data and data sources outside of the HR function. According to Marler and Boudreau (2017), HR analytics allow organizations to analyze HR-related data and integrate data from different internal organization functions such as finance and sales to support decision-making and link HR decisions to the overall performance of the organization. As such, the strategic importance of HR analytics is immense and can be felt throughout the organization.
