The American Revolution
The American Revolution was in the period of confusion that took place in the period between 1765 and 1783. It was during this period that the British monarchy was rejected by 13 American colonies and later discovered the United States of America. The American members refused to be taxed by the British parliament and as a result there were many protests from the patriots who were firmly against the British government. The British government in return responded by imposing disciplinary measures and laws on Massachusetts and hence the patriots had to back the Massachusetts and later set up their own government. Tension was very high during this period of time but at the end of the period democracy was achieved where the representative members were elected. This argument is on the American Revolution and expounds on the events that took place during this period (Bentley & Ziegler).
Was the American Revolution Radical or Conservative?
Although some of the research indicates that the American Revolution was conservative, on another angle it was also more of radical (Bentley & Ziegler). This is evident as the radical ideology that involved the natural rights and the freedom for an individual was within the spirit of the people who were more than willing to achieve this. This led to willful rebellions and oppressions that took place in the 17th century. In addition, the Americans were highly motivated by natural rights ideology they were ready to rebel against the British exaggeration on economic, religious and constitutional spheres (Trevelyan 98). In this regard the Americans were able to win against the British colonies and as a result this was a sign of inspiration especially to the people in the other parts of the world that were subjected to a similar oppression from the British and other colonies as well. In addition, the American Revolution is also considered to be radicals in a number of reasons and ways. It is in history that this was the first thriving war against the imperialism of the west which was once considered as one of the strongest power (The Saylor Foundation).
The revolution applied the guerrilla tactics and was not willing to compromise with the British government that was in power. Putting into consideration that the guerilla tactics had not been there before used in America, it was so encouraging that the military had the courage to apply the tactics well against their enemies (Ramsay 123).
