Voting is civil duty and according to Section 101.031(2) of the US constitution every registered voter has a right to vote and have his vote counted, right to vote free from coercion or intimidation, and right to vote on a fully functional and accurate system. Voting is a responsibility and while no one is forced to vote, everyone has democratic duty to cast and have their votes counted. Through voting citizens have the privilege to participate in a democratic process as well as select leaders who can represent them in pursuing their interests. Voting is a democratic process, and everyone aged above 18 years of age.
Why Voting is important
Voting is a right that we must never take for granted. The 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment was celebrated in august of 2020, and its celebration marked a historic milestone in the USA, it gave women the right to vote. In the same year, the US celebrated the 55th Amendment of the US voting rights Act mainly because it marked the end of racial discrimination in voting system. The tough American history challenges every registered voter to vote in every election period (Cascio & Washington,2014). This explains why every voter must always familiarize with issues and candidates vying for elective post. Maintain their address with the supervisor of election, know their polling stations, carry relevant documentation during election, respect the privacy of other voters, and ensure that the ballot paper is filled in correctly.
