The epilogue should be brief (400-500 words) in nature. You must choose one of the following for your epilogue: 1) What are the immediate consequences of Griff’s decision on the other boys? 2) What are the details surrounding “When the state of Florida dug him up, fifty years later”? 3) What is Mr. Spencer’s reaction and what does future as superintendent entail? 4) How has this experience shaped Elwood’s future? Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said that hate cannot drive out hate as the darkness can only be driven out by light. Similarly, only love can defeat hate. He was right and in his argument it is true to say that even though violence is on most occasions the quickest answer to violence, the final result is often undesirable to both parties. For ages, the fight between races has existed with each side trying to conquer and maintain dominance, superiority and power over the other. Evidently, wars have been fought and winners have emerged each time but this has not yielded the solutions that each soul craves for. In the search for peace, equality and similar rights, human beings have created a bigger divide between them by opting to fight for what they need. It is evident that the search is still on and unless we find an amicable method of solving our disputes, the war between races and classes will never end. This essay will reflect on the sentiments of the famous King Jr. about how adding hatred can never reduce the hate to which we are victims of, and the impact of violence and punishment as described in the article on Nickel Academy.
