Leadership is one of the critical aspects that expedite the efficiency of business operations and the attainment of set objectives. Governance involves the art of influencing people to ensure that they strive enthusiastically and willingly towards the achievement of the goals. Therefore, leadership is a vital process of regulating, controlling, and changing the attitudes of group members or even employees (Roberts, 2017). Leaders must play their roles effectively to promote cooperation and commitment of the followers and justify their positions. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the outstanding social rights activists in the United States. For example, he demonstrated practical leadership skills in advocating for equal and fair treatment. Although Dr. Luther King is no longer alive, his legacy as a transformational leader still exists through the fight for racial equality.
A successful leader has the capability of inspiring and motivating followers towards the attainment of set goals. Martin Luther King Jr. is an ideal example of such a leader. For instance, Martin led African Americans to fight for their rights. Besides, he would speak eloquently to involve more people in the process of making relevant decisions, especially in addressing the prevalent issues of social justice. Martin Luther King Jr. is an ideal example of a courageous leader who left a legacy of sacrifice and dedication to service. He was dedicated to the struggle for civil rights, thus making a positive contribution to society.
Martin Luther King Jr. emerged as a humble and robust leader through his top-down style of leadership that enhanced his capability as one of the leaders in the United States in the 1990s. Luther’s ability to be a leader emanates from his culture and ancestry. Reverend A.D Williams, Dr. King’s grandfather, set spiritual precedence for the leader as one of the appointed clerics for Ebenezer Baptist Church. Besides, King’s father served as a priest in the same church during the latter days. Therefore, Martin Luther King had a mentorship opportunity as one of the morally upright leaders who understood the plight of most African Americans.
Equally, Martin Luther King Jr. had a substantial and credible foundation as a morally upright individual committed to influencing change among African Americans. Arguably, his upbringing provided him with an opportunity of developing a moral sense and making relevant decisions that would comply with the ethical standards of African Americans and whites. The leader was a role model, which is one of the factors that made him one of the great epitomes of change. Accordingly, he attained a record of success through his style of leadership.
Dr. King persuaded all his followers to believe in his dream of influencing a better future. Additionally, he led the Civil Rights Movement and marched to expedite significant changes in society. As a result, African Americans gained a sense of dignity and self-worth.
