Please consider the following:
1. Think of or find an anime series, or regular animated film, and break it down for me in terms of the different anime techniques we talked about in class. Why do you believe this is limited animation (anime)? What are the telltale signs in your designated film? Note, Disney and other western animators use these techniques too, simply not to that extent.
2. What effect does limited animation have on the viewer? Does it take away from the enjoyment and fluidity of the film? If so, what do you attribute anime's success to? In terms of style, it is certainly inferior to western animators' projects. Why then do you think it has taken the world by storm over the last few decades? What is it about Japanese animation that makes it so endearing despite its obvious lack of artistic refinement?

This technique is useful, especially in anime, as it draws the viewer's attention to where the focus is. The other technique used is coloring schemas. The anime creators use different coloring schemas to help the viewer separate one character from the other. This is also a common practice among anime creators.
