The Build Your Dreams (BYD) Company is a Chinese manufacturing company that innovated Chinese-made batteries, especially as automobile parts (Rarick, Firlej, & Angriawan, 2011). The BYD believes that batteries hold the key to the future. Newer technology relies on battery life, such as mobile phones, computer devices, and automobiles. They aim to produce batteries that have longer battery life and safer for the environment. However, batteries are often mindlessly discarded without being recycled after it lost their charge, as a result, batteries are large contributors to environmental pollution (Rarick, Firlej, & Angriawan, 2011).
In the automotive industry, the BYD produces hybrid electronic vehicles with better batteries compared and cheaper prices compared to the dominant electronic vehicle makers in other countries like Japan and the US. A hybrid car runs using a battery-powered system, but when the battery life is depleted, the hybrid car will automatically shift to the traditional diesel-ethanol system until it reaches a charging station (Rarick, Firlej, & Angriawan, 2011). The company explained the problems of electronic cars that it’s very expensive, slower charging time and driving capacities of around 100 miles, which is significantly lower compared to the driving capacities of gas-fueled cars, due to the drawbacks of weak batteries.
