Car accidents are one of the most common types of accidents that kills hundreds of individuals in New York. Accordingly, this article would discuss about the two of the most common reasons for these negligent acts namely (1) drunk driving and (2) sleep deprivation. Accordingly, the author would discuss each of these causes of negligence from a statistical standpoint. All in all, the author believes that Insert answer causes significantly more accidents than insert cause due to the increase insert rationale.
Definition of Causes and Variables
As stated earlier, this study would focus on two of the most common causes of car crashes caused by negligence in the State of New York. On the one hand, drunk driving in this article is defined as the state of being intoxicated that one’s mental faculties is unable to work at full efficiency. In every state in the United States, drunk driving is measured at least 0.08 or 0.10 Blood Alcohol Level, which is more than enough to cause an incapacity in the person’s capability of driving safely CITATION USLnd \l 1033 (USLegal.com, n.d.). For the purposes of this study, the author would like to limit his definition to crashes where the negligent driver is proven to have consumed some amount of alcohol in their blood since determination of BAC during the time of the accident would be very difficult.
On the other hand, sleep deprivation as used in this article would be those which have less than seven (7) hours of sleep for the past twenty-four (24) hours CITATION Oxf18 \l 1033 (Oxford University Press USA, 2018). This is based from recent studies that show that people who have less than 7 hours of sleep experience a significant increase in the risks of car crashes than people who had a sleep cycle of more than seven hours. In fact, one study conducted by the Adelaide Center for Sleep Research, “Being behind the wheel after 24 hours without sleep is the equivalent of driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.10”, which is significantly above the maximum of 0.08 BAC in the state of New York CITATION Davnd1 \l 1033 (David Resnick and Associates, PC, n.d.).
Lastly, it must be noted that the analysis for this study would be limited to a comparison between drunk driving and sleep
Hypothesis
The main hypothesis for this article is that drowsy driving increases the risk of car accidents in the State of New York compared to drunk driving. The main reason for this assumption lies in a two-fold observation. On the one hand, observations would show that plenty of drunk drivers usually know that they have stop driving and take a public vehicle when they go home. Aside from their own volition, there are also times when those who accompanies them would prevent them from driving and would hail a cab instead to prevent accidents. On the other hand, another reason for this hypothesis is the fact that authorities act as a ‘preventive’ measure against drunk dr...
