A RAISEN OF THE SUN
A Raisin in the Sun is a film that portrays the life of an African American family living in Chicago. The play starts with youngsters being given $10,000. The money is from the insurance policy. In the drama, every family member has an idea of what they are going to do with the cash. For example, Mama needs to purchase a house. Walter Lee the son of Mama would like to use the money to open a wines and spirits store. He believes that his investment will assist in solving the financial problems of his family. On the other hand, Walter's wife Ruth concurs with Mama but she believes she and Walter will assist if given an opportunity. Beneatha wants to use the money to pay her schooling fees at the medical school. As the play progresses, the dreams of the Youngers clash. Ruth discovers that she is expectant but wants to terminate the pregnancy because she thinks the pregnancy will cause financial problems for the family. Mama purchases a house at Clybourne Park a white vicinity. When the whites discover that the Younger’s family are moving in the neighborhood, they offer Mr. Lindner money to give mama so that the can stay away. The family rejects the offer. Walter loses his money to Willy Harris his friend who convinces him to open a liquor store but runs away with the money. Raising in the sun is a play that portrays a lot of themes. Some of these themes include the need to combat discrimination, values of dreams, and the significance of family among others.
