The goal for the success of any business is to maximize profit and generate enough revenue for the organization. Employees constitute a primary part of any organization when it comes to realizing these goals (Babie, 2016). The scientific theory of management is one of the widely utilized theories when it comes to business management. Since employees fall into the category of Human Resource Management, it is essential to understand how scientific management works.
Fredrick W. Taylor coined the scientific theory of management in the 1880s (Turan, 2015). In this theory, Taylor focused on workflow in organizations and how it could be channeled to improve output in industries. Taylor emphasized that scientific knowledge could be utilized to study and find sufficient methods that could improve work output and economic efficiency. One example where he successfully applied this knowledge is in his time and motion study where he argued that maximum output could be realized if managers minimized movements in organizations. This is the application of scientific study on motion and time.
In the process of social research, there is a need to follow ethical considerations. One of the primary ethical considerations in social research is privacy and confidentiality. The researcher should respect the autonomy of the subjects in his study and inform them and guarantee their safety. In this age of social media, it is unethical to publish the names of participants on social media or disclose their private information. Malicious individuals are likely to lay a hand on employee information and use it against the subjects. Another aspect is professional and scientific responsibility. The researcher should accept professional and scientific responsibility and be ready to defend it if called upon to do so. This implies that social researchers should work with others to avoid unethical conduct in the field.
