Why Ralph Would Be a Great President

In elections, we have to choose the best who would help us move our country forward. Getting a good leader is not enough, we have to have the best who is a natural leader, compassionate, decisive, strategic and receptive openminded. This person is none other than Ralph. He has demonstrated each of these characters, and he is the best fit to steer our country to political stability, economic prosperity, social and cultural development without alienating any of us. A presidential position cannot change the character of a person, rather it reveals who they are. Therefore, in this election, other than Ralph, the other candidates are not fit to hold office based on their widely known decisions and actions which have endangered the lives of others. A vote for Ralph is not only going to demonstrate that he is a natural leader, but it will be for those who believe in unity, equality, accountability, and inclusivity. Our competitors are at best liars, evil schemers, weak, irresponsible, egoistic and thus unable to hold a public office. Therefore, a vote for Ralph is a vote for development, peace, unity, and prosperity.
Reasons
Ralph is a natural leader. When he found himself on an island, he called the other survivors together such that they could strategize on how they could survive as they waited to be rescued. He used a conch to call to attention all the other survivors. ‘Ralph continued to blow till voices shouted in the forest.’ (pg. 22) The conch would later come to be a symbol of power and civility. He guided the boys into establishing priorities they had to do as a group as they remained together to increase their chances of survival. He even called for an election in which he unanimously won to be the chief (pg. 29). He then split the groups into factions that were tasked with various responsibilities in the interest of the larger group. Throughout the time the boys stayed on the island before being rescued by the British naval officer, Ralph demonstrated strong leadership which was inclusive and visionary. He put his interest after the interest of his people and encouraged everyone to serve the good of everyone other than themselves.
Ralph is receptive to new ideas. As a leader, you have to listen and heed the advice given by your advisors and other people who are knowledgeable than you. Leadership is not asserting your will over the people but consulting and harmonizing their ideas and opinions into creating a sense of direction at least agreeable to all. Ralph demonstrates this by listening to piggy on why they need fire as a signal and why prioritizing building houses is important to the whole group. He heeds piggy’s plea to call for another meeting to demand his glasses back and address the rifts that had started to threaten their unity. Even after being nominated to be chief, he still offered the boys to vote for who they wanted to be their leader. “All right. Who wants Jack for chief?” (pg.29) This shows he does not wish to assert his authority, rather let the people choose who is best to lead them. This is important for presidents rather they manipulate the system to...
