Hamlet and Horatio
Hamlet and Horatio are great friends and throughout the play they are seen to envy one another. They respect one another and as such form a strong founded companionship from the start to the end of the play. It is thus quite intriguing to compare and contrast the two to see where it is that they are alike and where they differ in character.
There are a number of aspects that can be considered when it comes to the similarities that they share. One of the main ones, is the fact that the two are very intelligent. Unlike the rest of the characters, these two stand out when it comes to their ability to analyze situations and even express themselves. When it comes to hamlet, he is endowed with a high level of intelligent as he is seen to analyze different challenges which he faces in the play. Throughout the play, hamlet is seen to leverage his ability to play with words when he wants to communicate and in some of the cases he uses these skills to confuse and manipulate. He is seen for example to manipulate Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in such a way that he turns them around to a point where they admire beggars more than their king. He is also able to manipulate them to go after Polonius. At one time he is seen to mock Polonius using wordplay to a point where Polonius does not realize that he is being played.
