Death is an inescapable occurrence in a person’s life. People sometimes tend to avoid the thought of dying; however, some people brave the thought of dying. These people choose to end their lives to alleviate their suffering from a terminal illness. This is known as “Euthanasia.” Euthanasia is also considered a good death that aims to provide comfort and convenience to a patient in a critical condition. Euthanasia is performed on both ill and unconscious patients, as well as ill patients who can make sensible decisions (Westphal et al., 2019). Therefore, Euthanasia is done to end the pain the patient is experiencing. Hence, people who are ill must have the freedom to chart their life paths and decide when to end them.
Euthanasia must be widely accepted because it allows a patient to demonstrate autonomy while also ending pain and suffering. A person who demonstrates autonomy can control his or her own decisions, thoughts, actions, and words.
