Christian Perspective and Ethics
Christians have unique perspectives on spirituality and ethics unique from postmodern relativism. Christians believe in the existence of God and his role in enhancing individual health. Christians also believe that spiritually strong people do not easily get due to spiritual manifestation in their lives. Christians believe that those sick need love and care, as indicated by Jesus in his teachings (Ferngren, 2016). Christians believe in morality and moral decisions which promote their health. Their perspective on spiritual growth is also significant since it is linked to health restoration. Besides, Christians portray the morals of God in health restoration. For instance, Christians condemn specific health procedures, such as designing babies. Christians also stress that premature termination of a baby is unethical and amounts to sin. Christians believe that life begins after one conceives; therefore, terminating a baby's life for specific health purposes is inappropriate and resembles murder. An individual must behave appropriately before the eyes of God to have a healthy lifestyle and growth. Therefore, spirituality and ethics are aligned with a Christian's health.
On the other hand, postmodernism beliefs in spirituality and ethics are unique from Christianity. In postmodern relativism, health is based on human intervention and experience (Bogue & Hogan, 2020). Postmodernism does not embrace God's effort in promoting health. Besides, it does not focus on morality and spiritual forces in health restoration. Therefore, whenever individuals are sick, their health would be restored by the experience of the health professionals. The major ethical guidelines considered in postmodern relativism are informed consent and confidentiality. Postmodernism also stresses that humanistic skills define the management of ethical concerns in health. Lastly, postmodern relativism links health with the advancement of technological advancement across health settings.
Scientism
Scientism is a philosophical concept that shapes normative values. It is the philosophical view that only sciences provide knowledge of reality (Sorell, 2013). The statement has raised different reactions, but it seems true to most individuals due to existing scientific proofs. Scientism also stresses that it becomes easy to know any scientific concept than nonscientific concepts. Besides, it stresses that holding a scientific concept for a longer period is easier than other concepts. However, many individuals confuse science and scientism, making it difficult for the nonscientist to understand the two concepts. Science is defined by empirical evidence and analysis, but scientism is philosophical. For instance, scientific concepts have been used to access other planets and the moon and manage illness. Scientific concepts have also enabled researchers to develop nuclear energy, critical to humanity.
