Personal Ethics Revisited
Learning is a continuous process that adds knowledge to various life issues. It is why people go to school to get knowledge from learned professors. This ensures students grow into responsible people. This course has been instrumental for me. The most significant takeaway I got from it is the challenges scholars face when conducting research, code of ethics, ethical leadership and trust, and the challenges of online learning. I will apply what I have learned in my capstone research and later in my professional life to guide me in upholding research and workplace ethics.
Conducting research should always be an ethical process because of its magnitude on society. A researcher involves society and other stakeholders when conducting a study. In the process, the researcher seeks consent from the participants and upholds the participant’s confidentiality and anonymity, and failure to do any of these amounts to unethical practice. This course has empowered me to maintain these ethical standards in my academic, private and professional practices.
Ethical considerations affect people’s participation in research. According to Brevik’s (2013) research, leaders refused to participate in research for three primary reasons; student competition, time and effort, and adapted education. The student competition sometimes may be unhealthy causing, resulting in negative consequences. The negativity makes leaders reluctant to participate in education research. Leaders may also decline to participate in educational research because of a lack of time and effort. This means that research involves too much time and effort that leaders may not have, thus declining to participate in educational research. Mapping test is also crucial in educational research.
