Impact of Organizational Theory on Organizational Culture
Organization theory is a set of principles and concepts that provide a framework for an organization's structure, functioning, performance, and behavior. On the other hand, organizational culture is the underlying beliefs, assumptions, values, and ways people interact within an organization, leading to a unique psychological and social environment (Schein, 2010, p. 3). An organization theory aims to help study an organization, its designs & structures, and individual and group behavior. It is possible to capture the group behavior that amounts to organizational culture by doing so. Thus, organization theory impacts organizational culture because it enables the study and conceptualization of culture and its efficacy towards meeting the goals and objectives of an organization (Barasa, Cleary, English, & Molyneux, 2016). In my role as a nurse administrator, this link is critical because it will enable me to understand an organization and why people within it behave the way they do.
