It appears the American frontier (also known as the Old West) had an entrenched violent culture. In document 1, a suspected murderer had been executed without trial based on the ground that the victim’s clothing and his money were recovered in his place. The author also affirms seeing school children swinging the dead man’s body hanging to the old mill beam. It appeared that the children were used to seeing dead bodies, thus reiterating the Old West had a violent culture. In document 2, the chart shows Cattle Town homicides between 1870 to 1885. Between 1870 and 1872, seven people were murdered in Abilene. In Elisworth, six people were killed between 1872 and 1875. Four homicide cases were recorded in Wichita between 1871 and 1875. In Dodge City, fifteen killings were recorded from 1876 to 1885. Lastly, Caldwell recorded thirteen homicide cases between 1879 and 1885. In this vein, the chart indicates that 45 people were murdered in Cattle Town between 1870 and 1885. This suggests that the Old West was a violent and horrible place to live in the late nineteenth century. It was a dangerous time to be living in the American frontier from between 1870 to 1885 as people could kill others and still be free. Despite the rising homicide cases in the American frontier, settlers could not prevent themselves from migrating into the region because it constituted fertile grasslands that could be crucial for livestock rearing and farming endeavors.

Title: The Old West was a Disgusting Place
As I entered the hospital’s waiting room, I could notice the patient’s faces were filled with despair. The atmosphere reinforced the pain that they were going through as they waited for treatment. I had witnessed the American Frontier being hit by a wave of illnesses, including bowl inflammation, dyspepsia, cholera, kidney disease, asthma, liver disease, among other conditions. It was traumatizing to see helpless mothers and their children queuing to receive treatment. A critical analysis into the healthcare facility environment depicted that the physician had not availed themselves to work. I was heartbroken that the government of the Old West did little to invest in medical care to eradicate health dangers and illnesses that had rocked the jurisdiction. I could notice the old walls of the healthcare facility, implying the management put little effort into refurbishing the environment to promote a clean and safe hospital atmosphere. Even if wild animals or a fellow human did not kill you, lack of quality health care services increased your chances of dying in the Old West. Moreover, the events surrounding this image illustrate that Old West was an awful, dirty, and disgusting place to live in.
