Introduction
Quantitative research involves the collection and analysis of numeric data. It is the reverse of qualitative research, which collects and analyzes non-numeric data such as texts, videos, or audio. Quantitative data collection methods revolve around objective measurements and mathematical, or statistical, or numerical analysis of data collected through statistical data manipulation using computational methods, surveys, questionnaires, and polls. The purpose of performing quantitative research is to determine how dependent and independent values relate to a specific population. In quantitative analysis, data is collected using structured research instruments. Results include sample sizes that represent the particular population under research. Quantitative researches are experimental; thus, data collected is very reliable. Quantitative analysis is more applicable in analyzing and studying social science problems as it allows objectivity and accuracy of results. Some elements influence the believability of the research, while others control the robustness of the study. This article aims at discussing how the abstract and literature review elements affect the believability and robustness of the qualitative research respectively.
Abstract
An abstract entails a summary of more extensive works such as dissertations and research papers. The components below make an abstract subjective and informative enough to draw researchers into the rest of the research. Abstracts start with a statement expressing the aim of the research paper by including the research problem and objectives that the study wants to achieve. It is then followed by an outline of methods and tools used to collect data. Such strategies include questionnaires, surveys, and data from a sample population (Coughlan, Cronin, & Ryan, 2007).
