Postpartum depression is one of the risk factors associated with adolescent pregnancies. The seriousness of the condition varies from one person to another. in a situation where the condition turns out to be extreme, the mother can harm themselves or the baby. Hence, they must get medical attention. If the condition is not serious, it might not pose a danger to the baby or the mother (Dinwiddie, Schillerstrom & Schillerstrom, 2018). Adolescent mothers also face the risk of developing hypertension and preeclampsia. These conditions pose a serious health problem to the mother since they can result in death. The child also faces the risk of being born premature, thus reducing their chances of survival.
