A microbe refers to a microorganism that causes fermentation or disease—there various types of microbes, which include bacteria, fungi, viruses, algae, and protozoa. According to research, several factors affect microbial deaths (Kaiser, 2015). These factors include moisture, PH, chemical substances, salinity, temperature, and oxygen contents. Though there are different categories of microbes, most of the display different affinity towards these factors. Hence, this causes them to have optimum values towards the factors (Kaiser, 2015). The optimum values enable people to determine the accurate point where they can maximally grow. Thus, below or above the optimum values the microbes cannot survive.
There are various anti-microbial agents used to slow down or kill the activities of microbes. These agents include drugs and chemicals such as anti-bacterial, antiparasitic, and antiviral drugs (Paul, 2013).
