Jing Ke is well known as the famous assassin that tried to kill the first emperor of China. Jin was forced to flee his hometown due to the invasion by Qin that was swallowing up everything on its path (Timm, 2015). In Zhang Yimou’s movie ‘Hero,’ Jin is portrayed as ‘as attempting to kill the King but changes his mind later on due to his sudden enlightenment. More so, Sima Qian’s Pen also describes the assassination attempt stating that Jing Ke hid a dagger in a map he was to present to the King (Pines, 2008). However, he missed his target as the King backed away and managed to escape, after which a series of events led to his death. In my opinion, Jing Kei is a hero that tried to save his home from a tyrant king.
