The DAP (developmentally appropriate practice) is a perspective within early childhood education whereby a caregiver or teacher is responsible for nurturing the child’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. For this particular plan, the teacher will have to implement all strategies that deem to be effective and can ensure proper child development. The program can be divided into the following sections.
During the Toddler and Infant Years
This is the age when students expect to develop good relationships or friendships with adults; it means the teacher will have to engage children in multiple activities such as face-to-face interaction, group discussions, media-related activities, and indoor games. The purpose is to help them gain more and more knowledge and ensure their oral language development. At this level, the teacher needs to be careful while choosing games for toddlers. Some of the most suitable options are Find Mr. Tumble's spotty bag, Twirlywoos game, Bing Build and Play game, Play the Teletubbies game, Numberblocks Make and Play game, Hey Duggee Squirrel Club Quest game, the Looking game, and Brand New Tee and Mo game. The major teaching behaviors and experiences include talking to toddlers politely, using understandable and straightforward language, bringing them into confidence that the teacher is their friend, not an enemy, and encouraging them to participate in study-related activities and games and plays of their choice.
