Knowledge and Opinion
One of the many things that humans have in contrast to other living species on earth is that we have a conscious mind. Humans have a thinking and logical mind that allow them to differ and identify everything around them. This consciousness brings humans the ability to think, form judgments, opinions, and make decisions, among many others. Because of that, humans can create, discover, and explain many things on earth. Along with the logical reasoning that people have is the ability to formulate our own opinion. We draw our conclusions from the previous understandings and learnings. Our views of matters connect what we know about something and then the other. Our knowledge, then, supports our self-formulated thoughts and opinions about everything.
Thus, I say I disagree with Xenophanes' belief that the absence of knowledge is pure opinion. It is because even opinions are formulated with the knowledge we acquired from several influences. Knowledge is the collected ideas from previous teachings and experiences. They fill our minds as the foundation of our future intellectual development. The knowledge we acquire over time will allow us to think more creatively and more logically. With this knowledge, we will be able to understand and relay our understanding.
