2-4 Activity: Mind Mapping ,Creating Keywords and Opposing Viewpoints

Coursework Instructions:

Mind mapping* is a useful visual technique for brainstorming keywords. The brain is constantly making connections between different aspects of a problem. By capturing these connections and exploring them systematically, we are less likely to miss possible solutions. Mind mapping is also a highly visual and efficient way of organizing ideas.
By the end of the mind mapping process, you will have an entire page full of keywords related to your research topic.
After you have drawn out your mind map, make a list of your main topic, sub-topics, and supporting evidence. The topic is Online Education?
Let's use the keywords you brainstormed earlier in the module to conduct three separate searches in the Opposing Viewpoints or Academic Search Complete database. When conducting these searches, keep a close eye on what types of sources pop up. Are they written by professionals or academics in the field? Are they articles from one of the 24-hour news networks? What formats appear (article, journal, essay, news story, video, podcast, etc.)? How old are the sources?
Using the textbox below, take brief notes on what you see, and experiment with your keywords to broaden or narrow your search when appropriate. Jot down the titles and authors of a couple of sources from your search, as you will be asked to reevaluate them in the next activity.

Learners and instructors communicate while in different locations while they can access course content any time that they want. Hence, online education allows users to choose the accelerated approach or the part time approach. However, there is a need for feedback and formative assessment methods to improve online learning environments (Lawton et al., 2012).
Affordability
Online education is increasingly popular as a cost effective approach to learning compared to traditional classroom learning. Online programs that are accredited are popular as learners can access them when they have internet access and there are no doubts on the quality of information and education.
Internet/ Electronic communication and social isolation
Online education requires internet access to facilitate communication, but this can be a problem when there is social isolation and it is difficult to meet face to face. At other times, educations may simply use technology tools for the sake without necessarily achieving education goals (Cook, 2007).
Instructional method
One of the challenges in making online education more popular is that there is lack of face to face interaction, where students, learners and instructors interact visually. This poses a big challenge when there is a need conduct group meetings. At other times, the instructor may not be available when required potentially affecting learning.
