Reflection
Alongside your advocacy piece (on a separate word document) reflect on your advocacy piece through the lens of equity. How does the policy you are advocating advance equity for young children and families? Your reflection should include the following:
Who stands to gain from your advocacy?
Your advocacy piece is based on the articles you read for your matrix. In those pieces, whose voices were heard? Whose may not have been heard? Is the population you want to impact represented in your sources? For example, if you are supporting legislation that impacts young mothers, do any of your sources interview mothers in that age group?
How does this policy interrupt inequity? What is currently in place that your advocacy piece would change?
How does this policy contribute towards a vision of an equitable society?
One to two pages, double spaced, 12 point font, standard margins.
