8. Describe match on action cut? Provide an example discussed in class or from elsewhere. (4 points)
 A match on action cut is about the sequence of scenes, where in the shots are lined so that the action is conducive to the flow of the film. An example of this is when a protagonist reaches a bridge to cross it, as he makes his first step in a scene, the next shot portrays him from a frontal view, featuring the length of the bridge. This makes a flowing action in the film, as it conveys continuous time within the narrative, even if the scenes were shot apart.
 
 
9. What is the 30 degree rule? What happens when this rule is broken? Example shown in class. (4 points)The 30 degree rule is a concept in cinema, wherein shots are supposed to be sequenced with larger than 30 degrees angle change. This is because it is easier for the audience to understand the film and the setting when the camera is set up at least 30 degrees apart. This gives the audience an opportunity to see other elements of the setting. AN example is a scene in star wars, wherein the protagonists spaceship lands inside enemy star destroyers. The scenes are sequenced such that each shot features different details about the environment where the story is happening.
 
 
 
10. What is a sound bridge? Use examples. (4 points)
A sound bridge is the event wherein music is sustained while visual imagery advances and transitions. The music is used as a tool to extend the emotional reaction of the audience, and use it to fuel the next scene’s dynamic action. This can be seen in a lot of Marvel movies where the scene demands some kind of suspenseful element. Just as a hero is about to get in the biggest trouble, the soundtrack deliberately goes upbeat and suspenseful. The tempo and the volume play a key role in the success of sound bridges in order to bring out the theme of the scene. In the Avengers: Endgame, Iron man is face to face with Thanos, as the music provides a theme of impending doom and defeat. Thanos is about to snap his Infinity gauntlet, as the music turns slow and subtle, and then almost silence, the next scene shows Ironman having the infinity stones, as he snaps his own version of the Infinity gauntlet, the sound bridges the crucial scene in the movie which give the heroes their victory.
