The father had required the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to conduct a pregnancy test on his daughter. First, the healthcare provider must establish whether the girl is sexually active. Since the goal is to confirm pregnancy, other health assessment information required to make the diagnosis includes a physical exam and urine pregnancy test. The nurse would test the girl’s urine or blood to establish the presence of the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone (Kennedy et al., 2022). The blood test would provide crucial information about the patient’s overall health at establishing anemia-related issues, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and cystic fibrosis.

According to English and Ford (2018), the APRN should recognize the girl’s confidentiality concerns when making the diagnosis. It might be embarrassing for the girl to disclore information related to their sexual activity history in the presence of her father.
