Population: Pregnant women between the ages of 18-35 with a history of gestational diabetes.
Gestational diabetes (GDM) is a form of diabetes that occurs during pregnancy and affects about 3-10% of pregnant women worldwide. GDM is associated with significant maternal and fetal morbidities, including macrosomia, pre-eclampsia, and an increased risk of cesarean section.
Intervention: A 12-week exercise program consisting of low-impact aerobics and resistance training, supervised by a certified personal trainer.
Physical activity has been shown to improve glucose metabolism and reduce the incidence of GDM. Regular exercise during pregnancy has been associated with a lower risk of GDM, better glycemic control, and improved maternal and fetal outcomes. The proposed 12-week exercise program is designed to be safe, effective, and feasible for pregnant women with GDM.
Control: The control group will receive standard care, which includes dietary counseling and glucose monitoring.
