Communication Research Methods: Content and Experimental Analysis
Please identify the communication research methods used for each of the two studies we read this week: Fisher, Magee, & Mohammed-Baksh (2015) and 2) Parme et al. (2016). Next, review both results sections for the use of any t-tests or ANOVAs. Describe at least one specific place where you found a t-test and one specific place where you found an ANOVA. Comment on whether you think the tests were appropriately chosen in these instances. Be sure to tell us why or why not. Are you able to easily interpret the t-tests and ANOVAs in these articles? Why or why not? Please report any difficulties you have so we can all work together to solve them!

600 Discussion The two articles by Fisher, Magee, and Mohammed-Baksh (2015) and Parmer et al. (2016) use different types of quantitative research methods because they integrate measurements and numbers to establish new knowledge through their findings. On the one hand, Parmer et al. (2016) use content analysis, a subcategory of quantitative research. On the other hand, Fisher, Magee, and Mohammed-Baksh (2015) employ an experimental, a 3 by 2 factorial technique, as illustrated in the research design section. One incident where the use of ANOVA arises in these articles occurs in the story length section of Parmer et al.’s (2016) work. In this case, the authors correctly chose the test due to its applicability while testing the differences among more than two means. Pyrczak (2010) confirms this observation by underlying that this capacity distinguishes ANOVA from other variance measures. The resource by Fisher, Magee, and Mohammed-Baksh (2015) uses both t-tests and ANOVA. For instance, it uses a t-test to prove research question 3 when comparing the mean for social media technology and the economic story. The researchers chose this test appropriately because it fits the role of testing the variation between two samples (Pyrczak, 2010). Th...
