New Title X Regulations: Women and Family Planning Providers

In this week's assignment, you will review a policy brief and respond briefly to a few questions about it. The purpose of this week's assignment is to introduce you to the structure and content typical of a policy brief. These examples are very similar to what you will produce as your final exam in terms of scope, content, format, and structure.
The Assignment:
1. Choose one of the five policy briefs and read it. Read it carefully and highlight main points in each section.
2. Prepare and upload a brief written document that includes responses to each item below.
Note:
• Your responses to each of the following can only be a few sentences but should clearly respond to what is being requested.
• Answer these questions based on the content in the policy brief.
• Do not copy and paste any part of the policy brief in your responses. Do not quote from the policy brief to answer a question. Only your personal summaries of the content are acceptable.
• Copy and paste the questions into your document and put your responses below each.
Questions to Answer
What is the primary problem or issue that is being addressed?
What are the root causes of the problem as explained by the authors?
What are the policy issues raised by the brief?
What are the policy implications for the issue or problem? How do the policy issues raised create challenges for the populations impacted?
Summarize the general nature of the policy recommendations and provide a critique of how clearly they articulate a possibly more effective way to address a component of the system related to this issue.
Describe the group for which you think this policy brief would be most effective at creating change and explain why. Groups could include: federal policy makers, state policy makers, local policy makers, funding organizations, public health organization leaders, medical providers, parents, general population.
