The Ultimate Decision: Should Teenagers Abort Teen Pregnancies or Ask for Financial and Emotion Support after Birth
Introduction
Approximately twenty-one million females aged between 15 and 19 years get pregnant annually and twelve million of them give birth. In developing countries, teenage girls aged 15 years and below give birth to at least 777,000 babies every year (World Health Organization 1). Adolescent pregnancy is a significant global problem that affects low, middle, and high-income countries. In reality, many of them who become expectant have to drop out of school to cater to their babies’ needs. Transitioning from adolescence to parenthood is a challenging process, particularly when teenagers are not well-supported. Sarah Clark, an associate research scientist and co-director at Michigan University’s department of pediatrics, affirmed that adolescent pregnancy comes with multiple unexpected financial problems that numerous families are unable to cope with on their own (Mostafavi 5). In a poll conducted by University of Michigan, 56% of adult participants agreed that teenagers should be supported financially by their parents when they get pregnant (Mostafavi 6). This paper will argue my stance, which states that teenagers should abort their pregnancies instead of asking for financial assistance.
Body Paragraphs
Births to 15-19-year-old girls are expected in early marriages in countries that aren't as well-developed as they should be. There is always a power differential, restricted access to contraceptive methods, and pressure on women to show off their fertility. People who are rich and have a lot of education also play a role in this. Girls who have only had secondary school education are five times more likely to become mothers than girls who have had more education. Pregnant girls often drop out of school, restricting their options for future work and contributing to the perpetuation of the poverty cycle (Rodgers et al.). In many circumstances, young women believe that childbearing is a better alternative than completing their education after high school. In addition, the unique hazards that girls confront during crises raise the likelihood that they may get pregnant due to their experiences. One reason for this is the desire to make up for lost time with a child, a lack of access to education and contraceptive methods, and more sexual assault.
The death of both the mother and the child still has a lot to do with how old the person is when they die. Women who are 15 to 19 years old are the group that dies most often because of problems with pregnancy and childbirth in the world (Mølland 10). Pregnant girls and youths are also at risk for more health problems and challenges because their bodies aren't ready. Babies born to moms younger than 35 are also more likely to get sick, and it is not something many teenagers want or expect to happen to them (Moore et al.). Often, teenagers who live in countries where abortion is illegal or heavily regulated try to get an abortion with dangerous methods, which puts their health and lives at risk. Every year, about 3.9 million unsafe abortions are done on women between the ages of 15 and ...
