Why abortion should not be allowed: Annotated Bibliography
Arons, Jessica and Shira Saperstein. The Right Way to Reduce Abortion. 20 Jan 2006. 30 Nov 2021.
The article elaborates on some of the moderate and progressive government's politician efforts in reducing abortion in a country. They have made ways of putting forth a compromise position for ensuring that the goal of reducing abortion is reached with an annual target. The authors state that the politician's objective is to be in a position to mitigate abortion at a rate of over one million per year. Two ways of ensuring abortion is minimized include making it less necessary or less available. In making it less available, the act can be made illegal. By finishing its legality, it is believed to cease existing. However, in some countries where abortion is outlawed, this method fails to work since certain women still perform it under illegal and unsafe conditions leading to deaths or infertility cases. It can be made inaccessible by increasing costs, decreasing the number of clinics and doctors offering it, and mandating illegal parental involvement laws.
Biggs, Antonia, et al. "Does abortion increase women's risk for post-traumatic stress? Findings from a prospective longitudinal cohort study." BMJ Open 6.2 (2016).
Biggs et al., 2016 is study on whether abortion has the chance of increasing women's risk for post-traumatic stress. The paper's main aim is to assess some of the women's risk for PTSD and that of experiencing PTSS (post-traumatic stress symptoms)) four years after undergoing an abortion. The hypothesis is to test if all women who receive abortions risk having PTSS than those who are denied. The report of the findings was based on the Turnaway Study designed to assess women's mental health effects brought by abortion. The study participants included women aged 15 years and above from the English and Spanish speaking groups from January 2008 to December 2010. The participants had no history of fetal anomalies or maternal health abortion indication. Results showed that out of 956 women who completed baseline interviews reported various experiences that they were convinced to have been due to PTSS. The primary cause of PTSS was associated with criminal activity, abuse, and violence among several respondents.
Bitler, Marianne and Zavodny Madeline. "Did abortion legalization reduce the number of unwanted children? Evidence from adoptions." Perspect Sex Reprod Health 34.1 (2002): 25-33.
The article presents a pro-choice abortion argumentative essay on whether abortion legalization has reduced the number of unwanted children. Debates between supporters and opponents have different views on abortion. Some people have been found to have supported abortion due to various unwanted causes of pregnancies. In cases where the pregnancy was caused rape or sex from incest, abortion can be necessary. The opponents, however, have a different view that abortion is seriously wrong except under rare circumstances. Legalizing abortion in some countries has been found to minimize the number of unwanted children.
