Abortion is generally referred to as the intentional termination of pregnancy. It is a risky procedure that may cause severe complications such as womb and cervix damage, the occurrence of infections, shock, perforation of the uterus, and even death. In the United States, abortion has been legalized, even though some states restrict it to certain degrees. Understanding the complications and health effects of abortion takes the mind back to whether legalizing the practice was a good decision. There are several philosophical beliefs surrounding abortion as a topic. The first is existentialism, which points to the idea that everyone is responsible for creating and building their lives, including having the purpose and meaning over their own lives.
Using the existentialist mentality, the decision to legalize abortion carries no-fault since it is a demonstration of freedom. Additionally, abortion is a way to create personal meaning in a modern world where there are no absolutes.
