Article #1 Chan, Banny SK, Daniel Churchill, and Thomas KF Chiu. "Digital literacy learning in higher education through digital storytelling approach." Journal of International Education Research (JIER) 13.1 (2017): 1-16.
Storytelling is an integral part of learning. Chan et al. set out to investigate digital storytelling's importance in enhancing students' digital learning. The study used interviews and analyzed artifacts of three students they selected from a three multimedia course. They found out that storytelling boosted the performance of the three students despite having prior knowledge of digital literacy (Chan et al., 12). They recommended that teachers learn the art of storytelling to enhance and motivate students to improve in various subject areas. Their results are worth adapting, but they did not use a sample representing the schools' real situation. Nonetheless, the article helps my study because it will give insights into the importance of digital literacy storytelling. I will compare the information from this article and others to guide me through my research.
Article #2 Lal, Shalini, Catherine Donnelly, and Jennifer Shin. "Digital storytelling: an innovative tool for practice, education, and research." Occupational therapy in health care 29.1 (2015): 54-62.
Digital storytelling is a learning technique that teachers and instructors have not adopted on a large scale. Lal et al. worked on an article intending to introduce digital storytelling in the field of medicine. In their work, they propose how digital storytelling can be applied in clinical therapy research and education (Lal et al., 57). Besides, they discuss the challenges that follow the use of digital storytelling as a learning method. Lal et al. note that the healthcare sector uses digital storytelling but has not yet exhausted the teaching method (6). This article is an essential resource for my research. It will help me note the challenges that I am likely to get during my research and, finally, help streamline my conclusion and recommendation.
Article #3 Yuksel-Arslan, Pelin, Soner Yildirim, and Bernard Ross Robin. "A phenomenological study: teachers' experiences of using digital storytelling in early childhood education." Educational Studies 42.5 (2016): 427-445.
Yuksel-Arslan et al. carried out a study to determine whether early childhood education teachers use the storytelling method to teach, the importance, and its challenges. They used interviews, observations, and focus group interviews to collect the data for the study. The study used five kindergarten schools with at least twenty students and one teacher each. They found out that digital storytelling can help ensure that early childhood education is effective (Yuksel-Arslan et al., 439). Researchers can also use the emphasized points to research and expand the knowledge about storytelling as a learning method. This study will add more knowledge to my s...
