The study was about policy creation about determining if tuition-free colleges are feasible based on public opinion. The author found in her research that people support the notion of free education, as long as there are conditions that will be applied to students, such as minimum high school GPA requirements. The author also found that people think that policies focusing on targeting to provide benefits to low-income earners, the fairness of the policies, which indicates that many people desire equality when it comes to educational inclusivity through tuition-free colleges.
This study will be useful in researching my topic because it touches on the legal aspects of free college. Since state policies are required to push tuition-free college education, exploring the feasibility of the proposed policies can be helpful in establishing how free college can be useful. Also, the perceptions of the people about the matter are also important to gain various insights on the topic. Furthermore, since the public or the main stakeholders will be affected by policies about free education, it is important to determine how any proposed policies will be received by the public.
