How Talents Beat Hard Work in Rhythmic Gymnastics
Introduction
Have you ever wondered how gymnast’s bodies function in ways that your body cannot? People say that gymnast bodies require good condition, flexibility, and agility, but in reality, talent contributes more than hard work does. Batista et al in their work Active and Passive Lower Limb Flexibility in High-Level Rhythmic Gymnastics (2015) point out that no matter how flexible one is, a prior warm-up is necessary. They argue that flexibility warm-ups boost confidence in talent performance (Batista et al. 57).
Body scale or ratio marks the dancer's image in the field. Dancers who have longer legs are more preferable although these have not been made clear. Redden & Guy in "Making over the talent show." Exposing Lifestyle Television (2016) confirms that the body’s natural reaction to music and rhythm of dancers is significant to their success because the body movements are highly dependent on the body rhythms and reactions to music. (Redden and Guy 138).
There are quite a number of similar studies that have been in the past on the same. Cavalleria et al. conducted a study on Understanding overuse injuries in rhythmic gymnastics (2016) where they concluded that injuries are caused by physical factors among others. Other studies in The role of social support in talent development (2015) done by Joey Chua, Psychological strength training: the missing piece in talent development (2015) by Rena F Subotnik among others.

Body
People are born with talents. Hard work, on the other hand, is learned through a period of time. Some people tend to be luckier than others in that they easily get what they are pursuing while others will have to struggle a little bit harder. This brings inequality in society. Whereas these inequalities exist, it is not good to assume that we all should be the same in the same field. Other rhythmic gymnasts are born naturally flexible meaning it is easy for them perfecting their dancing skills. There are also those who work hard to learn the art of dancing and end up among the best despite the fact that they were not flexible in the beginning (Redden and Guy 145).
Different people have talents that they do not know because they have not practiced it. The hidden talents are mainly exposed through hard work. People who sit down and never engage themselves in different activities are likely to die without realizing what their talent is. This raises a question on how one should identify th...
