In Bruce Barton's book, the Man Nobody Knows depicts Jesus as the founder of the modern business world. The author explains the story of a strong Jesus who walked on foot, performed hard work with his hands as well as slept outside. He finds such to be different from the Sunday school teachings about Jesus. Such teachings depicted him as the lamb of God and a physically weak. Barton further describes Jesus as the best business executive that the world has ever had. In one of his chapters, he argues out that Jesus is the founder of the modern world of business. Barton depicts Jesus' s masculinity as a trend that has been emulated by human beings in the business world. According to the author, Jesus was able to create an empire from scratch using twelve men. Through his hard work, the empire had a lot of followers. Such is similar to the old religion of doing business where most people begin from scratch. Through their hard work, they can create huge businesses. In chapter one, Barton depicts Jesus as an executive. He shows Jesus's boldness and self-confidence in anything that he did. The conclusions are made based on Jesus' interaction with Mathew and Nicodemus (Barton, 1925). Such leadership traits were evident in the old days and are still being practiced in today’s business world. The most recent example of such leadership qualities is the ruling of President Lincoln. Hence, his book brings out the setting of the old religion, which has become the basis of today’s business world. It is an indication that the old religion believed in a hardworking Jesus, who, in turn, was a good example to the masses. Barton emphasizes Jesus’s traits as some that businessmen ought to emulate for them to become successful.
