Paper #3: Free Choice Research Synthesis
Assignment:
For this paper, you will research a topic of your choice and write a 5-6-page essay that explains the information to a freshman student in a different major. Your topic should focus on an aspect of your major or chosen career path. In addition to the synthesis of information, you will also provide an evaluation and analysis of the sources and topic. Although this research paper should remain objective, you may make MINOR claims, such as “This [innovation] was a turning point because…” or “It is important for society to understand how [this process] works because…” A successful essay will synthesize sources and present the issue with a clear and logical structure. You may choose one visual (a table, graph, or picture) that helps illustrate the information that you are presenting, but you do not have to. The visual combined with the caption and figure information should be no bigger than half a page. For each visual you include beyond 1, you should extend the minimum requirement for your paper by half a page. All visuals must be accurately labeled, titled, and captioned, with a source provided. You may use brief quotes from reliable sources, but the majority of the paper should be summarized or paraphrased information that is cited correctly. You should not use first person (I, we, us, our) or second person (you, your) in this paper. At this point in the semester, this essay should be virtually free of MLA formatting errors, citation problems, and grammar mistakes. You should use multiple sources in each paragraph.
Getting Started:

Educators of Tomorrow
Introduction
The world today is facing unprecedented challenges ranging from social, economic, and environmental issues. These challenges have been accelerated by globalization and the high rate of technological advancements (Hackling 61). Globalization facilitates the exchange of products, services, knowledge, and technology. Countries are connected than ever before, with nations seeking more international trade agreements to facilitate trade. Technological advancements as a result of the Internet have brought individuals from different countries together. These developments have offered humanity a myriad of new opportunities for individuals to advance. While the advancements are welcome, they create an uncertain future that cannot be accurately predicted. The world has become uncertain due to the constant changes that are occurring. With these changes, the education sector is equally affected. Schools are being faced with the challenge of having an education relevant to the 21st century (Seifert 38). Teachers are central in ensuring that learners receive an education to help them solve the world's current and future challenges. Teachers need to prepare learners for job opportunities that have not been created and solve issues that have not yet been anticipated. There is a need to have adequate educators and prepare them for tomorrow by equipping them with the necessary skills to ensure education is relevant to the 21st century.
The Essence of Teacher Training
Education remains key in any society. It is an important instrument that can bring positive change in all aspects of life. Without proper education, society is bound to lose its competitive advantage. Nations that have prospered have invested heavily in educating their children. Without education, it is impossible to bring the positive change that individuals in any society want. The whole education process encompasses many agents who work together to ensure the success of the learner. One of the most important agents is a teacher. Educators play a major role in the education system (Darling-Hammond 36). Because of the centrality of teachers in the education system, educators require adequate educational and professional training to acquire sufficient knowledge and skills needed. The importance of teacher training has been recognized as critical in preparing learners for addressing some of the common challenges facing the world (Seifert 36). Teacher training institutions have been established to equip tutors with the necessary skills to transfer knowledge to students. Teacher training remains essential in ensuring that countries do not lack tutors, adversely affecting the education process. Training institutions have been established to ensure a constant supply of teachers to meet the increasing demand because of the increasing population. Even in developing countries, teachers are needed to ensure that more children can access the basic education system. Governments in such nations invest heavily in teacher training institutions to ensure that their citizens do not continue ignorance.
