Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was specifically designed to assist in determining the acceptability of information systems. In other words, the core aim of this TAM is to predict consumer perception towards a certain tool, and to aid in the identification of modifications that can be done to the system for it to be acceptable to the potential users. According to this model, the acceptability of a system depends on the perceived usefulness and ease of use. Perceived usefulness can be defined as the degree to which one believes that adoption of a certain system will enhance his/her performance. On the other hand, perceived ease of use is the degree to which one believes that working with the system will be effortless (Information Resources Management Association & Khosrowpour, 2004). The purpose of this discussion is to explore the technology Acceptance Model, and expound on how luxury brands relates to it.
This model postulates that adoption of an information system depends on behavioral intention, and the behavioral intention depends on a person's attitude towards the usefulness of the system and his/her perception of the system's utility. A person's attitude towards a system may not be a major factor, but the impact of a system toward one's performance plays an integral part in determining the system's acceptability. Therefore, a user may not be willing to adopt a new system, but if the system can improve his/her performance, he/she will definitely adopt it.
