[Studying natural science is gradually becoming a fundamental aspect for all individuals because of the diverse challenges facing the world in the contemporary era. For instance, Gilding (2012) emphasizes that the pressures in the current world have increased people’s vulnerability to various risks. His arguments enabled me to reflect on a recent personal experience after the Covid-19 outbreak that left me with an increased desire to remain knowledgeable about scientific inquiry. Although I initially underestimated the disease, its severity became a reality after my grandmother succumbed to the coronavirus illness. The disease’s aggressiveness also sent my 73 years old father into an induced coma for approximately two months. As a result, these events demonstrated the value of understanding natural sciences because we would have been more thorough in instituting and complying with the preventative measures after the pandemic. Applying diverse science-based approaches, including lifestyle behavioral modification, as Gilding (2012) underscores, represents changes in perspectives that arise from a deeper understanding of natural sciences. These changes significantly influence how one combats the life-threatening Covid-19 disease, an aspect that assisted my father to overcome and recover in the long run. This realization indicates that science know-how is critical for opening one’s worldview to understand mechanisms of approaching different problems using evidence-based techniques.]
