In project management, there are several knowledge areas that are crucial for effective project management. However, these are general and even though integrating or using them can help ensure success in project management, it is crucial that organizations create their knowledge areas with a special focus on their purpose, their goals, and objectives. Every organization has its vision, goals, and targets. To remain true to its path and further its growth, an organization needs to create its knowledge areas in a project management plan. These knowledge areas should then guide an organization towards attaining its vision and growth objectives. In trying to showcase how organizations can create knowledge areas, this article will make use of a case study on Amazon and its implementation of the Six Sigma methods.
One way that an organization can create their knowledge areas in a project management plan is by having a well-articulated vision. Amazon’s vision is “to be Earth’s most customer-centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online.” From the above, one gathers that Amazon’s focus is to gift their customers an experience like no other. Their goal is to make sure all customers leave their platforms satisfied with their services and with the products on display.
