Nurse informaticists hold significant responsibilities in improving patient care efficiencies and outcomes. These professionals interact with healthcare specialists to facilitate effective communication between physicians and their patients, which is enhanced using the current technologies. In the digital era, success in providing patient care cannot be achieved without applying the most appropriate technologies. Nursing informatics can help in gathering relevant data, which can be analyzed to determine the most vulnerable group of patients so that they can get proper medical attention and care. The project proposal focuses on how the leadership of my healthcare organization can use nursing informatics to improve patient care efficiencies by implementing a mobile app to promote effective communication between healthcare professionals and patients by creating a trusting relationship.
Project Proposal
Based on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), there has been a mobile broadband subscription growth of 20% annually. In late 2017, there were approximately 4.3 billion subscriptions globally (Ng, Alexander, & Frith, 2018). In addition, the prices for mobile broadband subscriptions continue to plummet, and about 95% of the population in the world live in regions with access to the minimum basic second-generation wireless network. In other words, Internet connectivity is no longer a problem like it used to be several decades ago. On that note, my proposal to the leadership of my healthcare organization is to create and implement a mobile app that can allow medical specialists to interact with their patients. The app should foster physician-patient communication through video conferencing, where the doctor should be given the privilege of recording the data obtained from their patients. As such, patients will no longer need to spend money for transport to meet their appointments if there is no medical test that the physician intends to perform. Healthcare professionals would find it easy to help their patients manage their health conditions, particularly those with chronic medical issues. The mobile app can also be integrated with specific wearable devices that can enhance the recording of heart rates, temperature, and other crucial information that the doctor might need.
Stakeholders Impacted by this Project
The primary stakeholders affected by this mobile app project include doctors, physicians, nurses, therapists, executive leaders, nurse informaticists, software developers, and other medical professionals. The project cannot kick off without permission from the hospital leadership. Moreover, nursing leadership plays an essential role when it comes to the development and implementation of technologies that are meant to improve patient care (Mosier, Roberts, & Englebright, 2019). The best thing about this mobile app is that it would be applicable to various medical fields.
