Sex work should be abolished but with consideration to the impact it has on vulnerable groups, particularly women. However, I do not think it would end human trafficking but it will surely contribute to its reduction. Sex work is one of the biggest contributors to human trafficking, but it is not the only one. I understand that human trafficking encompasses other practices other than sex trafficking, including forced labor and organ trafficking. Therefore, while abolishing sex work will surely reduce human trafficking, I do not think it will not end it. Sex work might be a way some people use to make a living, but the practice promotes human trafficking. It gives human traffickers the incentive and motive to deceive and transfer humans from one territory to another and exploit them for profit.
I understand the issue of sex work to be controversial, but at the same time, we must admit its link to human trafficking. Most women join sex work as the only way of earning money after escaping abusive parents and relationships. For these women, a complete ban on sex work without giving them job opportunities would not be considerate of their issues. Therefore, while I think sex work should be banned, it should be done while providing the workers with alternative ways of earning a living. Sex work offers a market to human traffickers, and abolishing it while providing the workers with job opportunities would go a long way in reducing the motive to engage in human trafficking as well as preventing the sex wor...
