Reflection: A Colony in a Nation
Violence or action of contempt that happens in public requires police interference. Cases of murder and injustices stem from ignored violent acts in public. Safety is where the streets feel friendly and humanly welcoming. People often look out for each other through mutual concern to instill safety. Order is when everything flows in a designated rule and instills calm. Where there is order, everything and everyone is quiet. There is peace. The police are in charge of ensuring that the streets are safe, orderly, and quiet for everyone.
When there are cases of violence or noise, the police should be called to reinstate calm and order. When people go against the land laws by disrupting the usual peace, The person nearby should call the police on them. The death of Freddie Gray triggered confusion and unrest, as people believed that police intervention and interference could have caused his death. His death went unpunished as none of the alleged police officers was prosecuted. Sadly, this is the case in our society. The police have always had a way of getting away with crime and serious allegations.
The United States (US) has been said to be among the most violent developed countries globally. It is also said to have the highest rates of incarceration in the world. The common crimes identified in the US that contribute to the high incarceration rates include smuggling, murder, human and drug trafficking, and illegal weapon sale. According to the US database on criminology, approximately one-quarter of all the prisoners detained in various criminal facilities come from the country. Of all these prisoners, thirty-seven percent of them are males of black origin. These are primarily caught in crimes involving violence such as robbery, theft, arson, drug, weapon, human trafficking, kidnapping, rape, and murder. On the other hand, twelve percent of these detained criminals are white males. The white males are usually detained following crimes such as conning, cyber-attacks, rape, and murder.
