How to Keep Audience Engaged

Imagine that you are giving a presentation at a professional conference about a topic you know well..
What is the topic, audience, reason for the presentation, and approximate length of time.
The topic I would choose would be the California water issues. My topic would be focused on all Californians but with a special support for farmers and the central valley. This topic would be about discussing the current water issues, water allocations, and California drought challenges. I would focus on the challenges in a normal year and the new challenges in a drought year. I would also discuss the current policies that allocate lest and less water every year to farming how poor water management has added to the issue.
What would you focus on during the editing process to improve the reception of your speech by the intended audience? Provide an example support my presentation I would focus on providing historical evidence on both the drought effects in the past and also the water management deficiency that accelerate the process in which California keeps running into water shortages for farming. I would also add effects of the drought on our everyday life, including for those not living in a farming community. Food Prices increase with the limited supply or the importation of goods to keep up with the demand.
How could you go about getting constructive feedback on your presentation?
The constructive feedback that would prove to be essential for the presentation would be testimonies of Farmers. How life as a farmer has change with the challenges faced and how some have had to completely stope farming. Also in parts of the state of California, country homes have ran out of water as the wells that service them are now dry. The new challenges faced by them as they try to stay in their homes with the support of a state funding to deliver water to residence in need.
During the presentation, you notice several members of the audience starting to look bored and drifting off to sleep. What could you do to reengage your audience in the presentation?
In a situation when you are losing your audience, because of their lack of education in a topic or the lack of knowledge about the seriousness of an issue, you can regain ground by involving the audience in the issue. Asking questions about how serious you think the issue is or what would they do in those situations. Money is usually an attention grabber for most people, so introducing them to the different economical effects of a drought could potentially grab their attention even more. Losing jobs, means losing salaries, turns into losing homes. Price increase of food, with unemployment the affordability of this products is less etc. keeping the audience involve and showing how a water issue affects all regardless of region they are from or background they have.
