The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is one of the most talked-about events in the world today. As per the article, the sanctions were aimed to cripple Russia’s ability to trade in some of the world’s major currencies. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been widely criticized, with some world leaders noting that Russia is trying to create another Soviet Union. However, other world leaders were keen and fast to impose sanctions on Russia to help deter its activities in Ukraine. The sanctions announced by President Biden were designed to have severe effects on the Russian economy. Aside from crippling Russia’s ability to conduct business in other major currencies, the sanctions targeted several Russian banks and extended to some of the elite Russian families and their businesses all over the world.
