Research Second Language Acquisition theories
Choose the option that more closely matches your interest, as that always leads to better research and a better final report.
Research materials & methods: You may use any source-material you find useful to provide background information, as long as you provide proper citations. I recommend that you get demographic facts or general information from secondary sources (Encyclopedia, on-line), but require that you include an analysis or review of actual language data. That is, whether you describe a language or discuss ideas about second language acquisition, you must use examples to illustrate the language processes in question.
Format: Your description should follow the basic format of a scientific research report. Such reports usually include an introduction that presents your topic and your research questions, a paragraph detailing your research methods, a section presenting your findings or your answers to your research questions, a discussion of your most important points, and a list of your sources.
Use the proposal to identify your research focus, to develop your research questions, and to plan for your data collection. That is, the proposal should provide the following information:
1. What specific option sparked your interest? Why?
2. Translate your interest into research questions: What do you need to find out?
3. How will you be able to answer your research questions? Consider the following:
1. Do you need any background information? Will your readers need to know some background information to understand your answers? Where will you find that background information?
2. What data will you need? How and where can you get these data?
Ideally, your proposal will function like a plan for the entire project.
(sources can be more or less whichever works out well.)

Research Question
What are the different theories of second-language acquisition?
Research methods
The research will mainly rely on secondary data analysis. I decided to settle on this method because several authors have written on the topic. Analysis of data from these materials will be very helpful in informing the research.
Results
There are three major theories of second-language acquisition. These theories include; Krashen’s theory of language acquisition, the accumulation theory and the sociocultural theory.
Discussion
According to the research, the acculturation model of second lang...
