Tell me as much as you can about ficks law. Write out the formula and tell me what happens when you change the factors and how the body maximizes diffusion through anatomical adaptations. This is one of my “essay questions” on an exam so if it isn’t a full page that will be okay! Does not have to be too long!

Physiology- Flicks Law
In physiology, Fick’s Law of diffusion defines the time it takes for molecules to transfer from one compartment to another through a thin membrane. The general equation is represented as shown in the equation I below:
dqdt=-DAdcdx. (I)
In this equation, q represents the quantity of a molecule while A denotes the surface area of the membrane (Dickson). C is the concentration and D refers to the diffusion coefficient. Dx is the thickness of the membrane and dcdx is the concentration gradient.
The law describes the difference in the rate of diffusion relative to three factors: surface area, the difference in concentration, and membrane thickness. For instance, doubling the concentration difference or the surface area will also double the rate of diffusion of solutes. Besides, Hartel et al (1) have observed that the diffusion rate will double if the thickness of the trypanosome plasma membrane is halved.
