1. Explain the demographic makeup of each political party. Why do you think certain age groups and races favor one party over another?

Do you think it is difficult for a political party to make all their party members happy, even when they come from different backgrounds? https://fivethirtyeight(dot)com/features/religious-democrats-young-republicans-what-the-stereotypes-miss-about-both-parties/
2. The term "fake news" is used often by our politicians and by members of the media. In this post define fake news and explain some ways that you can distinguish between a fake news story, opinion-based news and factual news stories. Use the links below to describe some of the negative effects of fake news on society and which demographic groups are most vulnerable to accepting fake news. https://www(dot)washingtonpost(dot)com/politics/2019/04/05/fake-news-is-bad-news-democracy/?utm_term=.8d8bd2d24509https://www(dot)pewresearch(dot)org/fact-tank/2018/10/23/younger-americans-are-better-than-older-americans-at-telling-factual-news-statements-from-opinions/https://www(dot)politifact(dot)com/subjects/fake-news/3. Explain what the balance of power will be for the 117th Congress. Which political party holds the majority of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives? Which party holds the majority of seats in the U.S. Senate? Who are the leaders in each chamber?  Think about how a bill becomes a law. Given the current balance of power, how likely do you think it will be that this Congress passes (and the President signs) a piece of major legislation? https://ballotpedia(dot)org/116th_United_States_Congress?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1JyrhYbB4QIVlZJbCh0-qg5DEAAYAiAAEgJvmvD_BwEhttps://www(dot)realclearpolitics(dot)com/elections/live_results/2018/house/https://projects(dot)fivethirtyeight(dot)com/congress-trump-score/https://kids-clerk(dot)house(dot)gov/grade-school/lesson.html?intID=17 (Don't be insulted by that last link being aimed at a younger audience -it's still a fantastic resource!)4. The 2020 Presidential race is already heating up. Tell me a little bit about who is competing for the Democratic nomination. Who do you think is in the strongest position to win the nomination? Do you think that person can win a general election against President Trump? https://www(dot)nytimes(dot)com/interactive/2019/us/politics/2020-presidential-candidates.htmlhttps://www(dot)realclearpolitics(dot)com/elections/2020/https://www(dot)realclearpolitics(dot)com/epolls/latest_polls/democratic_nomination_polls/https://www(dot)realclearpolitics(dot)com/epolls/latest_polls/general_election/Write 2 paragraphs on each question. For each discussion board, post one response to the prompt. A good post will be about two paragraphs and will include evidence (facts and citations) to support your assertions.

Question 1
The demographic makeup of American political parties tends to differ in terms of age, religion, race, education, and other factors. For instance, a study by the Pew Research Center showed that Whites without a college education and those aged 72 to 90 years tend to identify with the Republicans (Bacon & Mehta, 2018). Conversely, most white college graduates, nonwhites, and millennial of all races tend to identify with the Democrats.
However, numerous factors influence the demographic composition of a party. When it comes to religious affiliation, 46% are Democrats who consider themselves as liberals, while 33% of registered voters are Republicans who regard themselves as white evangelicals (Bacon & Mehta, 2018). Certain races and age groups favor a party due to policies they favor. For instance, some voters may favor the Republican Party because it supports the death penalty, gun laws, and foreign diplomacy. It is challenging to make all party members happy since some polices may go against the doctrines which an individual upholds.
Question 2
Fake news is information that contains false and misleading content. Fake news results to the spread of false stories that expose voters to misleading information about governance performance (Hollyer, Rosendorff & Vreeland, 2019). There are different ways of differentiating between fake news, opinions, and factual news. Fake news contains inaccurate and unreliable information that is intended to mislead the public. Fake news is usually rampant during the electioneering period, and the aim is to mislead voters. Opinion-based news contains information and ideologies that appeal most to certain people.
Factual news is usually supported by evidence such as research reports, data, and other statistical evidence. Fake news has negative impacts since it influences people to make poorly informed decisions. For instance, it shapes the decisions of voters, ruins elections, changes real information/stories (Hollyer, Rosendorff & Vreeland, 2019). Studies have shown that the aged population is more prone to fake new compared to the young population. According to a recent poll, 32% of Americans aged 18 to 49 years can correctly identify factual news, in comparison to 20% of those aged 50 years and above (Gottfried & Grieco, 2018). Moreover, 44% of young people correctly identified opinions compared to 26% of the aged population.
Question 3
Democrats hold the majority of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives while Republicans control the Senate. In the Senate, the majority leader is Sen. Mitch McConnel while the minority leader is Sen. Chuck Schumer. In the House of Representative, the majority leader is Rep. Steny Hoyer while the minority leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (ballotpedia.org, 2019). A bill becomes a law after it has passed through the House of Representatives and Congress, and it is finally signed by the president.
When it comes to the balance of power, there a...
